It was sprinkled across thresholds and windowsills to stop spirits or witches from entering.

In some regions, a line of salt was poured around a home or barn during Samhain or Beltane to keep out malevolent forces.

Salt mixed with water was used to purify tools, sacred spaces, and even livestock.

Scotland has a long history of seers, wise women, and fae-sighted folk.
